Finca A Ponte comes from the highest parts of Amandi (±400–550 m), grown on granite and slate soils. It is a single vineyard from relatively young plantings (around 2010), with Mencía as the dominant grape, complemented by other local varieties such as Brancellao, Merenzao, Sousón, and Caiño. The result is an expression that blends freshness, energy, and precision with the saline mineral signature of the steep terraces.
On the nose, A Ponte presents bright red fruit, violets, and Mediterranean herbs, along with subtle, cool minerality. The palate is light to medium-bodied, juicy and exceptionally pure, with fine tannins and an elegant, vibrant acidity that carries the finish gracefully. Vintage after vintage, the wine gains depth without losing its suppleness.
The grapes are hand harvested and (partially) fermented as whole clusters with native yeasts in conical vats; this is followed by about 12 months of ageing in a 5,000 L oak foudre and/or used 225–500 L barrels. Bottling is done unfined and unfiltered to preserve the wine’s purity.
Serve at 14–16°C. Thanks to its fine structure and freshness, A Ponte is ideal with poultry, veal, refined stews, spiced vegetable dishes, and semi-hard cheeses.
A Ponte is made for lovers of elegant, modern Ribeira Sacra with a strong sense of terroir. It is irresistible in its youth, yet it will evolve beautifully over the coming years, gaining additional complexity and length.
