This iconic Barolo comes from the historic Bricco Fiasco cru in Castiglione Falletto, the first vineyard to be vinified separately by Azelia. The steep, warm south facing slope and exceptionally old vines, averaging 85 years of age, give the wine a unique depth and a strongly defined sense of terroir. Since 1978, Bricco Fiasco has been the heart of the estate and a benchmark for the Barolo appellation.
In the glass, the wine displays a deep ruby red colour with remarkable clarity. The nose is intense and seductive, distinctly floral and refined, with a core of red fruit and an almost endless layering of aromas. On the palate, it is rich and warm, yet at the same time remarkably fresh and elegant, offering perfect harmony between floral notes, fruit concentration and structure.
Vinification is carried out with indigenous yeasts and a very long maceration of around 55 to 60 days. Ageing for twenty four months in wood deepens the aromatic profile and supports the wine’s natural power without compromising its elegance.
Serve ideally at around 18?°C. Perfect with refined game dishes, slow cooked red meats, truffle based preparations or mature cheeses.
This Barolo is aimed at the experienced wine lover and collector: already impressive for its harmony and perfume, yet endowed with exceptional ageing potential that will continue to unfold over many years.
