This Barolo San Rocco is a powerful and concentrated expression of Nebbiolo from Serralunga d’Alba. The south facing exposure on clay and limestone soils, together with vines averaging 65 years of age, gives the wine a monumental structure and a firm, austere character. This is Serralunga in its purest and most uncompromising form.
In the glass, the wine appears deep ruby red. The nose is intense and layered, with aromas of liquorice, spices and dark fruit. Cherry, red currant and blueberry merge harmoniously, adding depth and complexity. On the palate, the wine is fleshy and highly focused, with velvety yet powerfully ripe tannins, conveying an impression of strength, seriousness and precision.
Vinification is carried out with indigenous yeasts and a very long maceration of around 55 to 60 days. The subsequent ageing for twenty four months in oak barrels refines the structure and integrates tannins and aromas into a harmonious whole.
Serve ideally at around 18?°C. Perfect with game, intensely spiced meat dishes, slow cooked beef or rich truffle based preparations.
This Barolo is intended for the experienced wine lover who appreciates powerful, structured wines: impressive and monumental, with exceptional ageing potential that will continue to unfold over many years.
