Beaune 1er Cru Clos des Marconnets from Domaine Chanson comes from a historic 3.2 hectare parcel high on the northern tip of the Beaune terroir. The south east exposure and the rich mix of clay and limestone give this Pinot Noir both concentration and finesse; a powerful yet elegant wine that clearly expresses Beaune’s characteristic depth.

In the glass, Clos des Marconnets shows a deep ruby colour. The nose is intense and layered, with ripe black fruits — cassis and blackberry — framed by gentle spices and a subtle toasted note from the oak. On the palate, the wine is full and fleshy, with fine density and broad tannins that provide structure; the finish is long, spicy and persistent, with a charming interplay of fruit and mature oak.

Winemaking follows the house’s classic approach: hand harvesting, partial destemming and a five day cold pre fermentation maceration to gently extract colour and aromatics. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks, followed by eighteen months of ageing on lees in French oak barrels (around 25% new), adding depth and refinement without overshadowing the purity of the fruit.

Serve at 14–16 °C. This Clos des Marconnets pairs beautifully with slow cooked beef dishes such as braised beef cheek or pork cheeks with gentle spices; it also shines alongside rich game dishes and aged cheeses.
