Beaune 1er Cru Le Clos des Mouches Blanc comes from a 2.2 hectare parcel high on the slopes of Mont Saint Désiré, on the eastern edge of the Pommard Premiers Crus. With its limestone and clay based soils and favourable exposure, this terroir produces wines that combine ripeness with true Burgundian finesse; this cuvée displays the power and complexity expected from one of Beaune’s finest whites.
In the glass, the wine shows a pale golden colour with an inviting sheen. The nose opens with fresh, floral notes and clear aromas of white fleshed fruit and citrus, supported by a subtle mineral thread and complex, well integrated oak nuances. On the palate it is powerful and rich, with full body and refined texture; ripe fruit and delicate oak add depth, while the acidity and minerality provide length and elegance.
Winemaking follows a classic, meticulous approach: hand harvesting, whole cluster pressing and low temperature fermentation in oak barrels to preserve complexity and freshness. The wine aged 17 months on fine lees in French oak barrels (with a carefully controlled proportion of new wood), ensuring harmonious oak integration and reinforcing structure without overshadowing the fruit.
Serve at 10–12 °C. An excellent match for foie gras, refined shellfish, lightly seared scallops, rich cheeses such as Comté or Cîteaux, and elegant gastronomic fish dishes with creamy sauces.
