A complex powerhouse from Burgenland, crafted from organically grown Blaufränkisch on lime-rich loam soils with underlying sandstone. This wine is pure terroir: intense, layered and elegantly muscular. The 25-year-old vines yield grapes with depth, structure and finesse.
The grapes were hand-harvested and fermented for 40 days on the skins in open 500-liter wooden vats. During this slow extraction, the cap was manually punched down—old-school, but effective. After pressing, the wine aged for 30 months in wooden barrels and was bottled in October 2023.
In the glass: deep dark ruby with purple reflections and a closed core. The nose is rich: ripe black cherry, blackberry, subtle notes of tobacco, spices and elegant oak tones. On the palate: juicy, powerful and perfectly balanced, ripe cherry, spices and fine-grained tannins. The finish is saline-mineral with astonishing length.
