A Blaufränkisch with depth and finesse, originating from heavy lime-rich loam soils in Mittelburgenland. Gesellmann practices fully organic viticulture here, respecting the soil, grape and biodiversity. The vines, aged between 10 and 35 years, deliver an expressive red wine with character.
The grapes are hand-harvested in early October. After spontaneous fermentation on the skins in stainless steel tanks, malolactic conversion follows in large oak barrels. The wine then matures for 12 months until bottling.
In the glass, it reveals a deep ruby colour with purple highlights. The nose is spicy and fruity: black cherry, cassis and a hint of liquorice. On the palate, juicy blackberry, a touch of pepper and vibrant acidity. The structure is fresh and energetic, with an elegant balance between fruit and spice.
