The Bourgogne Pinot Noir Clos Michaud from Domaine Chanzy is a terroir driven village Pinot Noir that combines the classic Burgundian signature with Chanzy’s house style: elegance, pure fruit and subtle oak influence. Sourced from carefully managed parcels, this cuvée shows immediate charm while offering enough depth to shine in a gastronomic setting.
In the glass, Clos Michaud displays a bright, deep ruby colour. The nose opens with ripe red berries — cherry and raspberry — complemented by floral notes of peony and a gentle hint of spice. In the background, soft nuances of liquorice and a discreet touch of vanilla emerge. On the palate, the attack is pure and lively; the wine offers a dense, juicy texture with silky tannins and fresh acidity leading into a long, fruit driven and lightly spicy finish.
Vinification follows the estate’s careful, traditional approach: hand harvesting, partial destemming (around 50%), a cool pre fermentation maceration and fermentation in small stainless steel tanks. After gentle pressing, the wine ages on fine lees in French oak barrels for approximately 12 to 18 months.
Serving temperature: 14–16 °C. Food pairing: ideal with roasted or grilled red meats, poultry in rich sauces, savoury charcuterie and characterful regional cheeses; also an excellent match for classic, seasonal dishes.
