Brolio is a Chianti Classico DOCG that captures the versatility of Barone Ricasoli’s vineyards in a single sip. This blend of Sangiovese and complementary varieties comes from hillside vineyards at 280–480 m elevation.
The vineyards lie on five distinctive soils: Macigno del Chianti (sandstone), Scaglia Toscana (galestro), Monte Morello (alberese), marine deposits (sandy topsoil, clay deeper down) and ancient river terraces (silty with clay).
After harvest, fermentation took place in stainless steel tanks with 14–16 days of skin contact. The young wine then matured for nine months in 500-liter French oak barrels. This aging softened the tannins and added subtle oak notes without suppressing the freshness.
Rich enough for grilled beef, wild boar ragù or aged Pecorino. Also sublime with pasta al forno or a mushroom risotto.
