Several centuries ago, Ricasoli Bettino formulated the basic composition for Chianti wines. It is no coincidence that this year, Francesco Ricasoli became the first producer ever to achieve a perfect 100/100 score for a Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from the world-renowned wine journalist James Suckling. Sometimes, it’s in the genes...The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio is a refined wine characterized by aromas and flavors of cherries, orange peel, and chocolate, with tight yet rounded tannins in a subtle and structured manner. The precision and elegance of this wine are impressive. As one of the estate’s key and most successful wines, this Castello di Brolio offers a rich and plush tasting experience with a beautiful blend of fruit, spices, and oak influences. The wine ages for 22 months in tonneaux, with only 30% new oak, contributing savory tones, soft tannins, and a rich texture that perfectly supports the full-bodied Sangiovese. The Chianti Classico Gran Selezione Castello di Brolio marks a new chapter in the history of this renowned wine. Made from 100% Sangiovese selected from various parcels, the wine reflects the shift towards fruit from higher and cooler areas. The three main soil types—sandstone, galestro-schist, and alberese limestone—contribute to the wine's characteristic freshness and elegance. The fresh and crisp character of Gaiole is evident, along with polished minerals, spices, and forest fruits.
