Long before Châteauneuf-du-Pape became France’s first wine appellation in 1936, M. Chapoutier had already realized that the unique climate—where the mistral plays a key role—and the diverse terroir, with galets that absorb heat during the day and release it to the grapes at night, could only be a major advantage for winemaking.
Châteauneuf-du-Pape La Bernardine is a classic blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre from Châteauneuf-du-Pape, characterized by its complexity and elegance. The wine has an intense crimson red color and a nose with aromas of blackcurrant, plum, roasted coffee, cinnamon, and cherry. The palate opens with spicy (licorice) and fruity notes, followed by a long finish. Vinification takes place in closed concrete vats, followed by aging for 16 months in concrete tanks.
