Corton Charlemagne

This Corton Charlemagne Grand Cru is an iconic white Burgundy from Domaine Rapet Père & Fils, sourced from parcels located in both Pernand Vergelesses and Aloxe Corton. Made from Chardonnay grown on vineyards with a wide range of vine ages, from vines over fifty years old to younger plantings, the wine brings together the power and depth of old vines with the finesse and freshness of younger ones. This combination results in a wine of exceptional complexity and balance.

In the glass, the wine displays a magnificent golden colour. The nose is intense and layered, with clear terroir driven notes of flint. On the palate, the wine is full bodied and powerful, showing a broad structure and impressive concentration. With age, it develops rich aromas of honey and toasted almonds, complemented by refined mineral nuances. The finish is long, deep and harmonious, with a majestic grandeur that is characteristic of this grand cru.

The grapes are hand harvested and transported in small crates to preserve their integrity. Pressing is carried out using a pneumatic press over approximately two hours, with whole clusters. After a cold settling period of 24 hours, the juice ferments in oak barrels, around 30% of which are new. The wine is then aged on fine lees with bâtonnage and bottled after twelve months of maturation.

This Corton Charlemagne shows at its best when served at around 12 °C. It is an excellent match for foie gras, lobster, langoustines, delicate fish dishes, veal sweetbreads, poultry with morels and soft cheeses.
