Made solely from organic grapes grown in our own vineyards, where the average age is around 20 years and cultivated on granite/schist soils with a clay/loam structure, a wine is produced that is rich, intense, and harmonious. The diversity of grape varieties, namely Alicante Bouschet, Trincadeira, Touriga Nacional, and Aragonez, combined with the unique characteristics of the soil and the maturity of the vines, results in an authentic flavor profile that impresses year after year.
After each variety is fermented separately (in stainless steel vats, concrete tanks, and small marble lagares), malolactic conversion is carried out in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for 12 months in a combination of new (20%) and old (80%) French and American oak barrels, and after bottling, it undergoes at least an additional 6 months of bottle aging.
In the glass, Esporão Reserva Tinto displays an intense ruby red color. The nose reveals aromas of wild berries with nuances of blackberries and ripe plums, enriched by subtle hints of cinnamon and licorice. On the palate, the wine is rich and elegant, with a harmonious balance between fresh acidity and robust tannins, culminating in a persistent, balanced finish.
