Gevrey Chambertin from Domaine Chanson comes from one of the most respected villages of the Côte de Nuits. The vineyards, rooted in limestone rich, marl and gravel soils with an eastern exposure, give this Pinot Noir classical structure and concentration; a wine that combines Gevrey’s power and ageing potential with the refinement of the domaine.
In the glass, the wine shows a deep, dark ruby colour. The nose is complex and intense, with aromas of blackcurrant and cassis, ripe plum and a subtle hint of spice, underpinned by notes of fine oak and forest floor. On the palate, this Gevrey delivers a full and layered profile: dense texture, well built tannins and pure fruit leading into a lush, generous finish.
Winemaking is meticulous and terroir driven: strict selection of the bunches followed by fermentation in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages 17 months on lees in French oak barrels, around 25% of which are new, adding structure and depth without overshadowing the purity of the fruit.
Serve at 14–16 °C. This Gevrey pairs beautifully with game dishes such as pheasant, poultry, and rich aged cheeses like Époisses or Langres; it also shines alongside stews and grilled red meats.
