Giallo d’Arles is a single vineyard cuvée from Quintodecimo, named after Van Gogh’s favourite yellow from his Arles period. This Greco di Tufo comes from the Giallo d’Arles plot in Santa Lucia (Tufo), planted in 2001 at 450 m, and expresses the clay limestone terroir with pronounced character.
In the glass it shows a deep golden yellow colour, sometimes with amber highlights. The nose opens with apricot compote and quince jam, complemented by subtle white flowers and a flinty minerality. Mouth filling yet fresh, it presents a powerful profile: lively acidity and a soft, tannin like grip provide structure and length.
Vinification focuses on intensity and authenticity: gentle pneumatic pressing, separation of free run must and protection from oxygen. Fermentation takes place 70% in stainless steel and 30% in new oak barriques, followed by four months ageing sur lie with regular bâtonnage. No fining is applied, contributing to the wine’s rich colour and ageing potential.
Serving temperature: 10–12 °C. Food pairing: rich fish dishes, poultry with robust sauces, dishes with dried fruit or nuts, and mature cheeses.
A convincing choice for lovers of full bodied, characterful white wines; thanks to its structure, oak influence and unrefined vinification, Giallo d’Arles has impressive ageing potential and gains complexity with further bottle ageing.
