Grande Cru Luigi Moio is Quintodecimo’s flagship: a blend from three micro terroirs that together deliver the ultimate expression of Aglianico. The grapes come from the south west, south east and lower parts of the same hill — varied clay and limestone layers, a sandy cover and differing exposures — producing a rare combination of finesse, freshness and tannic power.
In the glass it shows a deep ruby colour. The nose unfolds layers of cherry and small red fruits, followed by plum, dark chocolate and subtle balsamic notes; with age it reveals hints of mint, eucalyptus and a light incense touch. On the palate concentration and elegance unite: a dense, harmonious tannic structure, lively acidity and a long, layered finish where minerality and gentle smokiness merge.
Winemaking is traditional and meticulous: hand harvesting, selection and controlled fermentation with extended maceration. Each micro parcel is vinified separately and ages six months in new barriques; after blending the wine receives a further twelve months of oak élevage. Once bottled it rests for about three years in the cellar before release.
Serving temperature: 16–18 °C. Food pairing: roasted or braised red meats, lamb, game, rich stews and mature cheeses.
A wine for lovers of grand, terroir driven Taurasi: powerful yet refined, with exceptional ageing potential, gaining finesse and complexity over many years.
