Alta Mora Guardiola Etna Rosso DOC is a monument to the renowned Etna terroir, born on the southern slopes of Contrada Guardiola near Castiglione di Sicilia. Here, at around 800 metres above sea level, three hectares of free-standing Nerello Mascalese vines average 150 years of age.
Extended maceration slowly extracts the grape’s characteristic elegance and tension, while gentle pressing preserves its delicate fruit. Malolactic fermentation in oak barrels softens the acidity and builds a firm backbone, after which the wine ages in both 30- and 50-hectolitre casks before finding its harmony in bottle.
In the glass, Guardiola displays a transparent ruby red with sparkling violet hues. The nose unfolds aromatic layers of wild red berries, think raspberry intertwined with wild rosemary and a subtle hint of tobacco leaf. Full-bodied yet airy, with fine, elegant tannins and a refreshing acidity that keeps each sip crisp through to the long, mineral finish.
