Le Volte dell'Ornellaia is the approachable red wine from the world-renowned Ornellaia estate in Bolgheri, on Tuscany’s picturesque coastline. Crafted from Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot, this elegant Super Tuscan successfully bridges two worlds: the freshness and vibrant structure typical of Italy’s finest wines, combined with the richness and depth of internationally renowned grape varieties. As the entry-level wine of one of Italy’s most iconic estates, Le Volte offers a remarkably appealing introduction to the distinctive style of Ornellaia.

In the glass, the wine shines with a bright purple-red colour. The nose opens with expressive aromas of dark cherries, cassis and red roses, supported by subtle spicy nuances. On the palate, Le Volte is energetic and refined, displaying a beautiful tension between freshness and ripe fruit. Its lively acidity brings elegance and drinkability, while the Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon contribute generous fruit character, structure and depth. The result is a vibrant, finely structured wine of medium intensity, finishing with harmonious fruit-driven persistence.

The individual grape varieties are vinified separately in small stainless steel tanks to preserve their unique character. Following alcoholic and malolactic fermentation, the wine is matured for ten months, partly in previously used Ornellaia barriques and partly in stainless steel tanks. This ageing regimen preserves the freshness of the fruit while adding further complexity and refinement.

Serve at 14-16°C. This versatile Tuscan red pairs beautifully with grilled meats, tomato-based pasta dishes, charcuterie, wood-fired pizzas and semi-aged cheeses. Thanks to its freshness and elegant structure, it can also be served lightly chilled on warmer days.
