Los Colmenares

Arrocal Paraje Los Colmenares is a paraje wine sourced from three carefully selected plots in Gumiel de Mercado: El Olivo, Carraquintana and Cuesta Rubial. Planted on steep slopes between 850 and 890 metres above sea level, the vineyards benefit from a striking climatic contrast: abundant sunshine, cool nights and shallow clay limestone soils that give the grapes concentration and minerality. Surrounded by pine trees, oaks and a wild undergrowth of thyme, oregano and lavender, this Tinto Fino (100% Tempranillo) faithfully reflects the aromatic and flavour profile of its paraje.

In the glass, Los Colmenares shows a clear, medium intensity cherry red colour. The nose opens with ripe red fruit, cherry and blackberry, complemented by Mediterranean herbs and subtle mineral notes that evoke the dry, floral undergrowth of the site. On the palate the wine is smooth and inviting: rounded tannins, a concentrated yet fresh fruit core, and a pleasant sapidity that provides balance and length.

Winemaking is focused on purity and terroir expression. Grapes are hand harvested and rigorously selected; fermentation takes place under controlled conditions and the wine ages for 12 months in used French oak barrels, adding structure and refinement without masking the Tinto Fino’s character. Low yields and high altitude result in wines with concentrated aromas and elegant acidity.

Serve Arrocal Paraje Los Colmenares at around 16–18 °C. It pairs excellently with grilled red meats, lamb dishes, stews with Mediterranean herbs and mature hard cheeses. It also complements mushroom dishes and roasted vegetables, where its mineral freshness can shine.
