Esporão Alicante Bouschet is a red wine crafted from Alicante Bouschet, a teinturier grape of French origin introduced to Alentejo in the late 19th century. This wine combines the intensity and concentration of the Reguengos de Monsaraz sub-region with the vitality imparted by the higher altitudes of Portalegre, resulting in a full-bodied wine that reflects the unique influences of three vineyards.
The production begins with hand harvesting and vinification in small concrete tanks, followed by aging in a combination of French and American oak barrels. Bottle aging further refines the wine, contributing to its depth and elegance.
The finished wine displays a deep, concentrated ruby color and offers a complex nose of black plum, dark chocolate, and subtle leather nuances. On the palate, it is rich and flavorful, featuring a classic tannic structure and a long, spicy finish.
