Montagny 1er Cru 2024 from Domaine Chanson comes from the Côte Chalonnaise, sourced from a Premier Cru vineyard in the village of Montagny. The chalk and limestone rich soils combined with the east facing exposure give this Chardonnay freshness and minerality, resulting in a precise, terroir driven wine that shows both elegance and texture.
In the glass, the wine displays a pale golden colour. The nose opens floral and fresh, with bright citrus notes and a fine mineral thread running through the aromatic profile. On the palate, it offers a pure fruit expression with appealing texture: clean fruit, precise acidity and an elegant, lightly stony finish that brings length and character.
Winemaking is careful and traditional: hand harvesting, whole cluster pressing and cool fermentation (around 16 °C) for 15–20 days to preserve complexity and freshness. The wine then matures sur lie in French oak barrels, adding structure and depth without overshadowing the purity of the fruit.
Serve at 10–12 °C. Excellent with terrines, refined fish dishes, poultry and classic preparations such as veal in cream sauce; also a lovely match with soft goat cheeses.
