Petrucci Melo is the charming expression of Sangiovese from the heart of Orcia: a lavish, elegant and complex wine that unites tradition and terroir. This single vineyard cuvée comes from a small, carefully tended hectare at 520–540 metres elevation on south west facing plots with schist soils topped by a clay layer. The site and soil give the grapes concentration, refined minerality and a natural resilience that is respected at every stage of vinification.

Vinification follows a traditional, terroir focused approach: spontaneous fermentation in French oak vats for around 35 days to secure maximum aromatic complexity and a gentle build of tannin. The wine then ages 22–24 months in French oak casks, followed by a minimum of 24 months of bottle maturation.

In the glass Petrucci Melo shows a deep, inviting colour. The bouquet opens with dark red fruit and ripe cherry, supported by floral and spicy accents, delicate balsamic notes and subtle oak nuances. On the palate the wine is lavish yet controlled: rich texture, elegant tannins, bright acidity and a long, harmonious finish where finesse and terroir meet.

Serve Petrucci Melo at 15–16 °C in a large glass. It pairs superbly with celebratory dishes such as roasted lamb, slowly cooked game, truffle preparations and powerful, aged cheeses. Thanks to its structure and balance the wine is an excellent candidate for further cellar ageing.
