Piani di Tufara is a tribute to Puglia’s most classic dessert wine: Moscato di Trani. This historic appellation stretches between the Murgia plateau and the Adriatic coast, yet it is particularly around the town of Trani that the grape reaches its finest expression. Here, on deep tufa soils and even in abandoned tufa quarries, the tufare from which the wine takes its name, Moscato Reale achieves a unique aromatic richness and a natural balance between sweetness and freshness.
In the glass, the wine displays an intense, bright golden colour. The nose is complex and enticing, with aromas of acacia blossom, apricot, pineapple and candied orange peel. On the palate, Piani di Tufara is rich, warm and layered, distinctly sweet yet lifted by a dry, fresh finish that invites another sip. This balance makes it both classically seductive and surprisingly elegant.
Twenty percent of the grapes are dried in small crates to achieve additional concentration. After gentle pressing, the must ferments for 15 days at 18?°C in stainless steel tanks. The wine then ages for 3 months in used French barriques, followed by further resting in glazed concrete tanks until bottling.
Serve this Moscato di Trani well chilled, ideally with dry pastries, refined desserts, savoury tartines or creamy, aromatic cheeses. Its sweet yet fresh profile makes it a delightful partner for both classic patisserie and more adventurous gastronomic pairings.
Piani di Tufara is perfect for lovers of elegant, naturally sweet wines with finesse. Thanks to its structure and sugar content, it develops beautifully over 6 to 7 years, during which its aromatic depth continues to grow.
