Domaine de Courcel Les Croix Noires Pommard 1er Cru comes from a compact, characterful 0.58 ha parcel located below the Rugiens and adjacent to Les Frémiers. The vineyard, planted around forty years ago with an east–west exposure, sits on a deeper red brown calcareous clay soil (±0.8 m) richer in clay than neighbouring plots, producing wines with added structure and concentration.

In the glass this Pommard shows a deep ruby colour and notable intensity. The nose is powerful and ripe, dominated by aromas of very ripe black cherry and dark berries, with subtle spicy accents. On the palate the wine stands out for its firm structure: concentrated fruit, clear yet refined tannins, and a long, warm finish that emphasizes ripeness and terroir expression.

Vinification focuses on precision and respect for the fruit: careful selection of top bunches, controlled maceration and maturation that balance concentration and tannin without losing finesse. The approach highlights the natural power of the clay rich soil and the contribution of mature vines.

Serve at 15°C. Excellent with roasted red meats, slowly braised game, rich stews and mature cheeses; particularly successful with dishes featuring concentrated, savoury sauces that complement the black cherry notes.
