Pouilly Fuissé “Bois Séguin” comes from an ideally situated parcel on the western slope of the amphitheatre of Fuissé, planted on a steep flank between 355 and 390 metres above sea level. The roughly fifty year old vines are sheltered from the wind by the surrounding woodland. Thanks to this favourable exposure and the calcareous soils, the Chardonnay develops concentrated ripeness with a pronounced mineral character.
In the glass the wine shows a clear, pale golden colour with a subtle sheen. The nose opens with ripe white and yellow fruit, accompanied by delicate floral notes and a light mineral undercurrent. On the palate the entry is fresh and concentrated: a fine balance of juicy fruit, refined acidity and a firm structure that gives the wine length and character.
The grapes are hand harvested and vinification takes place in stainless steel tanks to preserve the pure fruit aromas and the minerality of the calcareous soils. This clean, controlled cellar approach emphasises terroir expression without excessive oak influence.
Serve at 10–12 °C. Excellent with seafood, delicate shellfish, refined fish dishes and light poultry preparations.
Pouilly Fuissé “Bois Séguin” is aimed at lovers of elegant, terroir driven Burgundies who seek immediate drinking pleasure as well as the option to cellar; it can age gracefully for 6–7 years.
