Puer Apuliae

Puer Apuliae, Latin for “Son of Puglia,” is a wine of remarkable personality and elegance. It is made from a clone of Nero di Troia, the noble indigenous grape variety of northern Puglia. Rivera selected and replanted this variety on the poor limestone soils of the Tafuri vineyard, where the grape achieves its most expressive and characterful form. Modern vinification combined with extended ageing in new French oak elevates its aromatic and structural potential to exceptional heights.

In the glass, Puer Apuliae shines with a deep ruby-red colour and purple reflections. The nose is intense and refined, revealing aromas of blackcurrant, violets and delicate spicy notes of incense and star anise. On the palate, the wine is rich yet elegant, supported by a fine tannic structure and a long, layered finish that highlights its noble character.

The grapes are harvested in the second half of October. Maceration lasts 16–18 days in stainless steel tanks. After malolactic fermentation, the wine is aged for 14 months in new French barriques and tonneaux, followed by a minimum of 12 months of bottle ageing. It is bottled without filtration to preserve maximum concentration and authenticity.

Serve this Riserva at 18?°C, allowing sufficient time to breathe or decant, alongside rich, full-flavoured dishes such as red meat, roasts, game and aged cheeses. Its structure, depth and aromatic intensity make it a true gastronomic wine.

Puer Apuliae is ideal for lovers of powerful, aristocratic wines with great finesse. Thanks to its concentration and elegant tannin structure, it boasts an impressive ageing potential of 12 to 15 years, during which its complexity and depth will continue to develop.
