Puligny Montrachet 1er Cru Les Folatières comes from an exceptionally small parcel (0.3 ha) located close to the great crus of Montrachet. Its south east exposure and limestone , marl and loess rich soils give this Premier Cru refined minerality and natural concentration; a wine that shows both precision and breadth, combining Puligny’s characteristic grandeur with remarkable purity.
In the glass, the wine displays a pale golden colour. The nose is elegant and complex: fresh floral notes, pear and white peach mingle with citrus tones and a fine, stony mineral accent. On the palate it is pure and layered, with precise acidity, a rich texture and impressive length; the balance of freshness, concentration and subtly integrated oak brings both finesse and depth.
Winemaking follows a classic, meticulous approach: hand harvesting, whole cluster pressing and low temperature fermentation in oak barrels (15–20 days) to preserve complexity and aromatic freshness. The wine aged 16 months on fine lees, with a small proportion of new barrels adding structure and an elegant hint of vanilla without overshadowing the terroir expression.
Serve at 10–12 °C. Excellent with foie gras, fine shellfish, lightly seared scallops, refined fish dishes and characterful regional cheeses such as Comté or Cîteaux.
