Several centuries ago, Ricasoli Bettino formulated the basic composition for Chianti wines. It is no coincidence that this year, Francesco Ricasoli became the first producer ever to achieve a perfect 100/100 score for a Chianti Classico Gran Selezione from the world-renowned wine journalist James Suckling. Sometimes, it’s in the genes...In the heart of the Ricasoli estate in the Chianti Classico region, we find this 100% Sangiovese single vineyard “Roncicone.” The soil is atypical for the region, consisting mainly of marine deposits with a high organic content. At the top of the hills, there is more limestone, while clay is found lower down. This carefully oak-aged Sangiovese shows brilliant clarity and focus, offering a deep, dark fruity bouquet paired with earthy tones, blonde tobacco, and a nice spiciness. This wine beautifully captures the essence of this grape variety.A concentrated, full-bodied wine with very accessible tannins, even at a young age. The finish is framed by well-structured tannins, leading to significant aging potential. This wine is the most structured of the three Chianti Classico Gran Selezione wines from Ricasoli.
