Santenay Les Cornières from Domaine & Maison Chanzy comes from carefully managed plots in the heart of Santenay, where limestone and loamy soils meet a south eastern exposure. This village level Pinot Noir reflects the classic Côte Chalonnaise signature: immediate charm, fresh minerality, and an elegant Burgundian structure that is both approachable and gastronomically versatile.
In the glass, the wine shows a bright ruby colour with lively reflections. The nose opens invitingly with ripe red berries, raspberry and cherry, complemented by floral notes and subtle spice; in the background, delicate hints of liquorice and vanilla emerge. On the palate, the attack is fresh and pure; the wine offers fine tension and juiciness, with silky tannins and a persistent, fruit driven finish where minerality and finesse come together.
Vinification is traditional and meticulous: hand harvesting, partial destemming (around 50%), and a cool pre fermentation maceration to gently extract colour and aroma. Fermentation takes place in small stainless steel vats, followed by gentle gravity pressing. The wine matures for approximately 12–16 months on the lees in French oak barrels.
Serving temperature: 14–16 °C. Food pairing: ideal with roasted or grilled red meats, poultry with rich sauces, savoury charcuterie, and characterful regional cheeses; also an excellent match for classic, seasonal dishes.
