Viña Bosconia Reserva comes from Haro in Rioja Alta and is made from a traditional blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Mazuelo and Graciano. This cuvée is one of the most characterful wines from López de Heredia, a bodega renowned for its pure tradition and exceptionally long ageing. Bosconia shows a slightly more powerful, almost Burgundy like profile than Tondonia, with greater structure and a distinctly gastronomic style. It is a classic Rioja with a noble, timeless signature.
In the glass, the wine displays a deep cherry red colour with slight evolution at the rim. The nose is complex and refined, offering aromas of ripe cherries, dried strawberry, herbs, leather and subtle toasted notes. Nuances of tobacco, cocoa and a hint of forest floor also appear. On the palate, it is full and structured, with a lively acidity that brings tension and freshness. The tannins are fine and perfectly integrated, and the finish is long, spicy and elegant.
Vinification follows López de Heredia’s traditional method: fermentation in large wooden vats, followed by a long ageing period of five years in large oak casks, with regular rackings and clarification with fresh egg whites. The wine then rests for several years in bottle in the historic cellars before release.
Serve at 18–20°C. Excellent with roasted red meats, lamb dishes, game, stews, mushrooms, truffle based dishes and aged cheeses. Its classic structure and finesse also make it ideal for refined gastronomic pairings.
