Viña Tondonia Reserva is one of the most iconic wines from Haro in Rioja Alta, produced by one of Spain’s oldest and most traditional bodegas. It is made from a classic blend of Tempranillo, Garnacha, Graciano and Mazuelo. This traditional Rioja is crafted exclusively in the historic cellars of López de Heredia, where long ageing and artisanal precision are central. The result is a timeless, elegant wine with a distinctly traditional signature.
In the glass, it shows a vibrant ruby colour with subtle amber hues at the rim. The nose is refined and complex, offering aromas of vanilla, dried red berries, spices, tobacco and a hint of forest floor. On the palate, it is rich, smooth and fully developed, supported by a lively acidity that adds tension and freshness. The tannins are perfectly integrated, and the finish is long, harmonious and marked by subtle oak notes and spicy finesse.
Vinification follows the house’s classic method: fermentation in large wooden vats, followed by an exceptionally long ageing period of six years in large oak casks, with twice yearly rackings and clarification with fresh egg whites. The wine then rests for several more years in the underground cellars before release.
Serve at 18–20°C. Excellent with roast lamb, grilled red meats, game dishes, stews and aged cheeses; also a perfect match for traditional Spanish cuisine and refined gastronomic preparations.
A wine for lovers of classic, long aged Riojas with depth, finesse and authenticity, already beautiful to drink now, yet offering an impressive ageing potential.
