The Viré Clessé from Domaine Chanson is a refined expression of Chardonnay from the east facing slopes of Viré and Clessé, rooted in limestone soils. This cuvée blends southern suppleness with a distinct mineral signature, elegantly showcasing the appellation’s terroir in an accessible style.
In the glass the wine shows a pale golden colour. The nose opens with inviting aromas of stone fruit — apricot and yellow peach — with a subtle muscat like nuance and floral highlights. On the palate the entry is energetic and well structured: pure fruit, a pleasing roundness and lively minerality that provide tension and lead to a long, gastronomic finish.
Winemaking begins with strict grape selection and a cool fermentation in stainless steel tanks at around 16 °C for 15–20 days, with careful separation by terroir. The wine matures for about 13 months, maintaining the balance between freshness and roundness and preserving the natural expression of Viré Clessé.
Serve at 10–12 °C. Perfect as an aperitif and an excellent match for spring salads, fresh goat cheeses, classic dishes such as escargots persillés, and refined fish preparations or other light, gastronomic starters.
