About The Lakes Distillery
The Lakes Distillery is a craft distillery in the heart of the Lake District, firmly rooted in local provenance and landscape. The distillery draws inspiration from regional ingredients and the area’s pure spring water, and positions itself through transparent, terroir‑focused production where craftsmanship and sustainability are central.
The range comprises carefully curated spirits, focused on single malt whisky and hand‑made gin, complemented by distillates such as vodka ; the products mature and are blended with careful attention to cask choice and cask management to build complexity and character. Productions are often small‑batch and terroir‑aware, with special releases and limited editions that highlight the region’s unique qualities.
The distillery combines production with visitor experience: a visitor centre, tours and tastings bring the story of distillation, maturation and local ingredients to life. The Lakes Distillery appeals to both lovers of carefully crafted whisky and gin and to visitors seeking the combination of craft and Lake District scenery.
Lakes Single Malt Whiskymaker's Edition Volar 52° +GBX
Volar, meaning ‘to fly’ in Spanish, is inspired by the Cantabrian Range of mountains in northern Spain. Eagles soar the thermals above the range’s vivid green woodland and gushing rivers, such striking symbols of strength and power, yet elegant and seemingly weightless.
Embodying both its inspiration and its dual mountain wine and sherry cask influences, Volar is simultaneously uplifting and vibrant, and restrained and fragrant, with a fruitful depth rich in berry compote and dates.

Showcasing the best of the Lake District, Reflections is a collaboration with fellow Lakes resident chef/patron Simon Rogan. Together we celebrate, not just past achievements but also the possibilities that lie ahead.
Respectful of Simon’s ethos, Reflections is guided by earthly connections, grounded by a sense of place and stimulative of deep contemplation at meaningful moments in time. Restrained, elegant and light, but also incredibly vibrant, Reflections is autumnal Lakes in character, with spiced pumpkin and fragrant woodspice evolving into apple compote and warming cinnamon and a long, reflective finish.
